Great Barrier Island visit to Paul, Jonquil, Vann and Darren just two years ago. (More photos on blog)

Medlands Rd – background is Medlands Beach and it is John and Grandson, Vann
John and Vann feed the chooks and Vann has lost his leg
Darren and Paul – we are about breakfast. Not sure if that is a 6 pack that Darren is showing off or is it a barrel
On the Barrier
Darrens old abode
A galloping rail
Before I went over to the Barrier I attended our Naval Reunion on Motuihe Island and had to practice our drill.

Very smart, are we not
Jack Donnelly (Burp no 2 ) is the Guard Commander and we (Bash Bishop and John Currin) are do a training run for the ceremony on Motuihe Island and our reunion. We had not used the Lee Enfield rifles since the early 60’s but it all came back, gradually. We are on the barge crossing over to the island and our only practice run.

Have been updating our kitchen – see all photos here – https://www.curark.com/

Part of our old kitchen about to be removed

Kitchen being dismantled

John surrounded by kitchen cabinets and drawers, all assembled by me. 2 hours to do the first drawer and 2 minutes to do the last.

Starting to layout the new kitchen

Bench tops ready for fitting and prep and paint the wall

Having a trial run for Chinese New Year eve. Mei busy with the wok. Kitchen is usable, waiting for some doors and some electrical connections. Have installed electric hob with a two burner gas hob alongside.

And a bit of a snack for the Year of the Tiger

My future food supplies

https://ift.tt/uugz00 tomato plant and a courgette nestled between some bags of compost and top soil so as to be protected from the tornadoes ripping across the Manawatu . Will plant them out when these inclement conditions disperse

Mei at the eye doctors having a test

We were lucky in that we had a Chinese optician doing the test so I didn’t need to do much translating and her test came out well. No hurry for glasses yet.
